Back at the beginning of the month VRFocus reported on the reveal of new technology from a company by the name of Limitless that aims to bring realistic character interactions into the world of virtual reality (VR). The studio, formed by Tom Sanocki, formerly of celebrated movie studio, Pixar, and Halo and Destiny developer, Bungie, is already working with Motional LLC on its first product to showcase this new tech, named Gary the Gull. Today, it’s been confirmed that Gary the Gull is coming to the PlayStation VR head-mounted display (HMD) for PlayStation 4.

The news was announced via the PlayStation Blog. Sanocki explained that, although Gary the Gull is technically a movie, it features interactive elements. This includes actually speaking with Gary, the talking seagull that appears in front of the viewer on a beach. “This is our first step in making characters in VR games feel engaging and real,” Sanocki said of the experience. “We’re excited to hear what you think and what we can do to make the next set of games and interactive movies even better!”

Gary the Gull is on display at the 2016 Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco, California this week. Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) itself is holding an event for PlayStation VR today. Fans are hoping to hear more about the launch of the device, which is yet to receive a full release date or price.
