NovaWake Studios’ Galaxy Compass has launched with Oculus Rift compatibility. Billed as a ‘mental massage’ by the developers, Galaxy Compass is a virtual reality (VR) experience that puts the player on a set trajectory as they drift through a system of caves with otherworldly galaxies.

In Galaxy Compass, the player enters an almost unreal universe, with extra-terrestrial anomalies surrounding them as they view in wonder. The experience is entirely gaze-controlled, with mechanics such as looking at a galaxy to transform the audio score and illuminate the entire environment. Galaxy Compass does not utilise the Xbox One controller bundled with the Oculus Rift.

The path upon which the player sails is gentle with flight times intended to last around 30 minutes. There is no taxing of the player and no gameplay challenges involved in Galaxy Compass: the videogame is designed entirely for relaxation purposes.

Available to download via Steam now, Galaxy Compass benefits from a discounted price of £1.33 GBP during its launch week. The videogame will be available at full price, £1.99, from 17th May 2016. NovaWake Studios are working on a number of VR experiences, both designed for use at home and during installations, and VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest from the development studio.
