Felix & Paul Studios has had a successful run so far in bringing live-action virtual reality (VR) content to the mainstream area of the film industry, including the showcase of two pieces at the 2016 Sundance Festival, the continuation of the Nomads series, and a VR experience with LeBron James. The studio has now taken a leap forward by taking on Hollywood production professional, Ryan Horrigan, as Chief Content Officer.
The VR film studio, hoping to expand its capabilities in original cinematic VR experiences and series with the addition of the new content officer, will benefit from Horrigan’s impressive career history, including his most recent role as Vice President at New Regency Productions, the studio behind this year’s Academy Award winning films The Revenant and The Big Short. He also worked on titles such as 12 Years a Slave, Star Trek, and Cloverfield, which is an impressive amount of talent to bring to VR.
Stéphane Rituit, co-founder, president and executive producer at Felix & Paul Studios, said in a press release: “Ryan is an accomplished studio executive with a track record working on groundbreaking films, making him the perfect fit for this important role,” She went on to say: “He is a great addition to our team and will be a key part of the next phase of our evolution as we bring cinematic virtual reality to a mass consumer audience in 2016 and beyond.”
Horrigan also said in a press release: “I’m honored to work with Félix, Paul, Stéphane, Sebastian and the rest of this highly-talented team to continue building an amazing slate of original, cinematic virtual reality experiences that will set the industry standard for years to come.”
