The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, California, starts today and it should be a busy week of virtual reality (VR) news and announcements. If you’ve been reading VRFocus over the last couple of days then you’ll have seen some major reveals by some of the biggest developers and manufacturers in the industry. One of the major reveals came from Bethesda’s press conference when the company revealed both DOOM and Fallout 4 would be coming to VR. VRFocus has now learnt that Fallout 4 will be available for demonstration on the show floor.
When Bethesda made the announcement the studio did reveal two demonstration booths for both videogames, but what wasn’t clear was if either title would be available to everyone or just select press. It’s now confirmed that Fallout 4 will be fully playable to everyone so the title is likely to be more than just a tech demo.
“We think that VR is the perfect fit for truly immersive games like our massive open-world RPGs,” said Bethesda Global VP of Marketing & PR Pete Hines. “If you thought Survival Mode was an intense Fallout experience… you ain’t seen nothing yet.”
“We are thrilled to welcome the incredible world of Fallout 4 to the HTC Vive platform. Players are going to be blown away when they experience Fallout 4 VR with the full immersion offered on the Vive,” commented Joel Breton, VP of VR Content for HTC.
“Since we first showed off modern VR with DOOM 3 BFG at E3 2012, we have dedicated ourselves to the technology, constantly pushing ourselves forward,” Hines said.
