Epic Games Reveals Daydream Dungeon Demo

In line with the announcement that Unreal Engine 4 now supports development for Google’s newly announced mobile virtual reality (VR) platform, Daydream, Epic Games has revealed their own technical demonstration for the head-mounted display (HMD). The currently unnamed dungeon-based role-playing game (RPG) was built in just two weeks using the now publicly available Unreal Engine 4 plugin.

The work of just one developer, Epic Games Principal Artist Shane Caudle, this demonstration will be made available to developers to showcase the graphical bar that can be achieved on Daydream, as well as how to leverage the Daydream controller’s touchpad and buttons. The entire piece was created using only Unreal Engine 4 Blueprint visual scripting and simple fantasy-themed assets.

Epic Games has released a video offering a taste of the gameplay experience available in this technical demonstration for Daydream, as well as notable employees of the company discussing both the hardware and Epic Games’ plans to support it. VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest details on Epic Games’ work in VR and on the Daydream platform.
