Last month VRFocus reported on the EUVR, a European platform for VR devs and enthusiasts, organising a virtual reality (VR) hackathon in collaboration with the Microsoft Innovation Center and the Clusters screen.brussels and software.brussels. The VR Hackathon Brussels is a weekend long event that Epic Games have now announced it’ll be attending in a coaching capacity.

Epic Games is well versed in VR with its Unreal Engine 4 being used for some of the most high profile VR projects, including Oculus Story Studio’s Henry, Epic’s own Showdown and The Hobbit: A Thief in the Shadows – which recently received a nomination for a VES award for Outstanding VFX in a Real-Time Project.

Epic will be bringing Unreal Engine technology and experts, including Osman Tsjardiwal and Tom Looman, as well as stepping up at the platinum sponsorship level.

The hackathon will run from 15th – 17th January 2016 starting at 6pm, Microsoft Innovation Center, Co-Station, 5 Place Sainte Gudule, Brussels, Belgium. European tech developers, game programmers, UI/UX designers, artists, animators, storytellers, enthusiasts and professionals shall be attending. It will provide an exploratory environment where disruptive and creative ideas all based around VR are brought to life.

Tickets are fully sold out and VRFocus will be reporting on any further news relating to what happens at the hackathon.
