It was only a few days ago the Frontier Developments announced its next content expansion for Elite Dangerous: Horizons. This second addition called The Engineers, brings new upgrade possibilities, customisation options and more. The expansion also features the studio’s biggest ever update v1.6.

Elite Dangerous: Horizons – The Engineers aims to change the way players fly, trade, explore and fight in the Elite Dangerous galaxy by unlocking new customisations. Engineers are based on planet surfaces across the cosmos, and each has their own unique personality and history. It’s up to players to earn the Engineers trust to unlock powerful upgrades for their ships, if they want to. Take out the SRV Surface Recon Vehicle that featured in the previous expansion to scour planet surfaces and shipwrecks for materials, or trade, steal and smuggle.

With this new degree of customization players are able to forge weapons with unique stats and exotic effects: inflict damage even through shields, knock enemy ships out of control, repair wingmen in the heat of battle and more. Frontier Developments has also added an all-new mission board. Missions are now more personal, making it easier to build relationships and take meaningful decisions that define who calls you friend and who calls you foe.

Elite Dangerous: Horizons for PC is available as an upgrade to Elite Dangerous for the new lower price of £19.99 GBP ($29.99 USD, €24.99 EUR, 1,489 RUB), and packaged within the Elite Dangerous Commander Deluxe Edition for £39.99 ($59.99, €49.99, 2,999 RUB), including eighteen unique paint jobs.

The title supports the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive head-mounted displays (HMDs). The full changlog can be found here as it’s massive. For further details on Elite Dangerous keep reading VRFocus.
