The Creative Assembly earned credence amongst the virtual reality (VR) community for their early technical demonstration of Alien: Isolation on the Oculus Rift back at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Los Angeles, in 2014. However, Senior Environment Artist, Liam Tart, has now revealed a side-project of his own: a fan-made recreation of a scene from Half-Life 2 fully playable with the Oculus Rift.

Built using Unreal Engine 4, the VR scene is downloadable via Tart’s own personal blog. Tart is no stranger to the Half-Life franchise, having previously worked on a mod known as Black Mesa alongside The Crowbar Collective. This mod will soon see release on Steam after having officially been given the greenlight by Half-Life creators Valve, though Black Mesa does not support VR head-mounted displays (HMDs) at present.

You can find out more about Tart’s creation at his official blog and VRFocus will keep you updated with any future VR endeavours from the developer, as either an individual or as part of The Creative Assembly.
