Back at Gamescom 2014 Crysis developer and CryEngine creator Crytek revealed a small virtual reality (VR) tech demo running on its middleware. Fast forward 15 months or so and the company has revealed two more demos – one of which was recently released – and its first full VR videogame in Robinson: The Journey. It’s been a quick turnaround for this company’s dedication towards the tech to say the least, and VRFocus recently got to sit down and talk about its work in VR in much more detail.

In the interview below Crytek Executive Producer Elijah Freeman discusses where the developer is going to go with Robinson: The Journey, which is set to debut on the PlayStation VR head-mounted display (HMD) for PlayStation 4. He also discusses the work that went into creating this year’s tech demos, Back to Dinosaur Island and Back to Dinosaur Island 2.

This weekend sees the second PlayStation Experience kick off in San Francisco, California. With luck, Robinson: The Journey might make its next showing at the event. VRFocus will be at the show to cover all VR titles.
