Earlier today VRFocus reported on the news that Oculus VR and Samsung’s Gear VR mobile virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) had been put up for pre-orders over at Best Buy. The listing seemed to point towards a 20th November 2015 release date for the device. Now new listings for the kit have been put up and the consumer Gear VR release date has been officially confirmed by none other than Oculus VR itself.

According to a post over on the Oculus Blog the new Gear VR will indeed ship on 20th November and can now also be pre-ordered over at Amazon.com and Samsung.com. It doesn’t appear that the upcoming version of the device is available to pre-order in other territories just yet, although the global launch is still expected to take place in November too. As expected, the kit costs $99 USD and runs with the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 edge+, S6, and S6 edge smartphones that have all been released earlier this year.

As already reported by VRFocus, new content such as Bandit Six: Salvo and Land’s End is also arriving on Gear VR today, while Oculus VR notes that titles such as CCP Games’ Gunjack and Anshar Wars 2 from OZWE are still on their way. Oculus Arcade, the previously announced virtual arcade that allows users to play classics such as Sonic the Hedgehog, is also now available and video services such as Vimeo and Twitch have also now arrived on the platform. In short, it’s a big day for both current and future Gear VR owners.

“This is an incredible moment for virtual reality as people all over the world can now turn their phone into an immersive VR experience,” Oculus VR notes on its blog. “We can’t wait to hear what you think.”

VRFocus will continue to follow the Gear VR closely, reporting back with the latest updates on its progress.
