Back in January 2015 an animated virtual reality (VR) film arrived on Oculus Share. That title was BUTTS: The VR Experience created by Tyler Hurd, and it aims to tackle topics about love, trust and learning to be free. Now the movie has arrived on Samsung’s mobile head-mounted display (HMD) Gear VR for user to experience.

The official description for the title reads: “BUTTS: The VR Experience will make you laugh, cry, fill you with unimaginable bliss, and return you to that innocent place of childlike wonder you’ve long forgotten.”

Originally it was a 2D animation short, but Hurd adapted it to be a VR experience. The film tells the story of a blue man, who is happy in his strange way of bouncing around. While doing this he comes across a sad orange man. He is lonely and depressed however the blue man takes it upon himself to make him feel better.

The experience is free to download and should be comfortable for most to watch. No Bluetooth gamepad is required to view the VR animation, but the film doesn’t currently support the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 device.

VRFocus will continue to follow all the latest updates and launches for the Gear VR headset as announcements are made.
