Earlier this week VRFocus reported on the imminent launch of BigScreen Beta from developer BigScreen Inc. Today the software is now available to download for free through Steam, for both the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive head-mounted displays (HMDs)

BigScreen Beta is an app that allows VR users the ability to view their entire PC desktop whilst wearing a headset. You’ll have full functionality over your PC, using it as you normally would but in a far more immersive environment. Whether it’s playing your favourite (non VR) Steam videogames, watching movies or TV shows on Netflix or YouTube, or just going online, it’s all available.  And all this can be viewed on a fully customisable screen that can range from 30 inches to 65 inch curved TV sizes. Or go even larger with 20 foot wall sized displays.

There’s also a bunch of multiplayer options with public and private rooms for up to four players, low-latency positional audio chat, private & encrypted screen sharing in VR and cross-platform support for the two HMDs.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of BigScreen Beta, reporting back any new updates.
