Arrowstorm Entertainment has already created11 fantasy, science fiction, and roleplaying videogames, so they are no strangers to it. The studio has now decided to create an immersive RPG, Mythica VR, which is launching on Kickstarter to gain some crowd funding.

Mythica VR will be a multiplayer online RPG where players can experience traditional tabletop RPGs, like Dungeons and Dragons and Pathfinder. “The first time you put up your sword to block the blow of an attacking orc, and it feels as real as life, you know that there is no going back.” says Kynan Griffin, one of the owners of Arrowstorm Entertainment. The title will also feature a dungeon master, so there are no corners cut in creating a real RPG.

There is some real talent working on this development as Rogan Griffin – most probably no relation to Kynan Griffin – is leading the project, who has worked at Pixar Animation Studios on films such as Toy Story 3 and Brave.

Rogan Griffin goes on to explain why he was eager to get on board with Arrowstorm Entertainment: “I was a day one backer of the original Oculus Rift, so when it arrived my office at Pixar was crowded with everyone wanting to try it. We are huge geeks at Pixar too, so of course the discussion turned to how we could make a dungeon crawler experience in virtual reality. I’m so excited to finally have the opportunity to do that here at Arrowstorm.”

One point that needs to be noted is that this will be available for the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and Google Cardboard – the top prize goes to who can spot the odd one out. The idea behind making this title available for the Cardboard head-mounted display (HMD) is so that this will be available to as large of an audience as possible.

The Kickstarter campaign will start next week, and its aim is $80,000 (USD).
