More festive treats are being offered by developers, this time by Studio Wildcard for its virtual reality (VR) compatible title ARK: Survival Evolved. Today sees the launch of Winter Wonderland a major update for the Steam version of the title. It will feature limited time holiday items, challenges, and environmental details for existing users, while new players will be encouraged to join by a new discount on offer.

ARK: Survival Evolved Winter Wonderland won’t feature Santa but rather Raptor Claus, who will dart across the night sky in his sleigh, air-dropping presents filled with high-end Loot Blueprints (or Coal for naughty Survivors). Following him around to stock up, players may find rare dropped ARK gift codes. Survivors will be able to earn Reindeer Costumes, Candy Cane Club Weapons, and Santa Hats. If enough coal is collected, there’s even a possibility to summon an elusive holiday-themed DodoRex to do their bidding for a limited time.

And next week just in time for the New Year, Studio Wildcard will be hosting one last massive Survival of the Fittest battle, but this time for charity. The “ARK: Survival of the Fittest Naughty or Nice” event will pit 100 vs. 100 survivors, in a two-team elimination battle. All 100 players on the winning Tribe, either Tribe “Naughty” or Tribe “Nice” will get to split up $10,000 USD to donate to a charity of their choosing. The event will be streamed via Twitch.tv/SurviveTheArk at 9am PST (12 pm EST) on 29th, December 2015.

And as part of Steam’s Winter Holiday sale ARK: Survival Evolved is 40% off its regular price (now $17.99) through to 10am PST, Monday, 4th January 2016. VRFocus will continue to bring you the latest updates on ARK: Survival Evolved as announcements are made.
