Back in July 2015 Aldin Dynamics, developer of the popular virtual reality (VR) title Asunder: Earthbound, revealed that it was working on a brand new project for the Gear VR mobile virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD). That title was Twisted Realms. At the time it was thought that the videogame would be releasing just a week after its initial announcement, but that didn’t end up being the case. Instead, Twisted Realms has launched this week on the Innovator Editions of the Gear VR.

Twisted Realms is a Tower Defence title set on a ruined world in which worshipers summon an ancient god to help them reclaim it. Players are cast as this god and have a number of powers at their disposal to help their group build towers and work their way through environments to claim for themselves. A trailer for the experience, first shown along with the title itself, can be seen below.

Aldin Dynamics notes that Twisted Realms has been created from the ground up for VR. “Twisted Realms embraces the uniqueness of the VR medium,” and official description for the title on the Oculus VR Store reads, “tying it directly into gameplay features. Experience the world at different scales and perspectives, taking part of the action through third and first-person viewpoints.”

The company is also currently working on Ghostline, a VR analytics tool. VRFocus will continue to follow Aldin Dynamics’ work in VR closely, reporting back with the latest updates on its progress.
