Smartphone manufacturer Alcatel is launching its #BoomMeUp virtual reality (VR) campaign this summer, touring the UK with its BOOM taxi to promote the launch of the IDOL 4 handset.

Inside the BOOM taxi the VR demo provides users with a taste of VR so they can experience a multitude of situations and landscapes from the comfort of the bespoke vehicle. Utilising IDOL 4 technology, 360-degree sound and visuals, participants will experience some of the most iconic landmarks in the world, showcasing the power of VR.

William Paterson, Alcatel UK & Ireland Country Director, said: “We had fantastic feedback from customers and media following the launch of the IDOL 4 and we are super excited to bring this to the consumer.

“The Boom Taxi delivers an innovative user experience by offering a bespoke activation that highlights the key features of the handset – Boom Key, quality camera, great music, speakers and gaming.“

The VR experience will visit various mobile retailers before its debut at ‘Summer in the City’ at the ExCel Centre in London then make its way to ‘Glass Butter Beach Festival’ in Llanbedrog Abersoch, North Wales. The taxi continues its tour at the Trafford Centre in Manchester before the final leg at Dundrum in Dublin.

Those attending the experience will be invited to take a selfie in the taxi, and share it for the chance to win an Alcatel IDOL 4 handset, launching online from early August and in store from 1st September, 2016.
