Earlier this week VRFocus reported that indie developer Nival VR’s latest virtual reality (VR) project, InCell, had hit Android and iOS with support for the Google Cardboard mobile-based head-mounted display (HMD) following a PC release with Oculus Rift support earlier in the year. At the same time, Nival VR confirmed that another version of the videogame was in development for Oculus VR’s other HMD, the Gear VR mobile-based device that’s created in partnership with Samsung. Today, the latest version of InCell has released.

InCell is an action racing experience that also aims to include some educational elements. Players will charge through a virtual representation of a human cell in VR on tubular test tracks similar to those seen in Tammeka Games anticipated VR racer, Radial-G. Along the way, they’ll be accompanied by The Most Excellent Assistant Zero-Seven (TMEAR07), an assistant that must be impressed by the player in order to convince her to heal Mrs. Jane Smith, the human that owns the cell in which you race around.

Gear VR itself finally launched at a consumer level in the US on 20th November 2015 for $99 USD. The kit is also seeing a staggered launch worldwide, releasing in certain territories across the globe. It supports Samsung’s entire range of 2015 smartphones, which includes the flagship Galaxy S6 and its curved spin-off, the Galaxy S6 edge as well as the enlarged Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge plus. The original Gear VR compatible phone, the Galaxy Note 4, isn’t supported.

VRFocus will follow all of the latest releases on Gear VR, reporting back with any further updates on them.
