Earlier in the week it was announced that Schell Games, developer of the upcoming virtual reality (VR) title, I Expect You to Die, would also be bringing its crowd-funded hit, Orion Trail, to the technology. The sci-fi adventure, which raised some $97,801 USD in a Kickstarter campaign that ran earlier this year before its October launch, is being ported from PC to Android, supporting the Gear VR mobile-based head-mounted display (HMD) from both Samsung and Oculus VR. Today, Orion Trail has launched on the platform.

Orion Trail is a 2D experience that receives a new interface for this VR release. The title has been described as a mix of the classic version of pioneering sci-fi series, Star Trek, as well the 1971 adventure, The Oregon Trail. In it players will take control of a ship’s captain and guide a crew through multiple types of levels and missions. It’s a comedic take on the genre in which players will be able to choose their own crew, take on random encounters and manage resources in order to survive.

On Gear VR, the title costs weighs in as a 43.05MB download. I Expect You To Die, on the other hand, is on its way to the Oculus Rift HMD with support for the Oculus Touch controllers. VRFocus will continue to follow the latest releases for Gear VR, reporting back with any further updates.
