Single-lens 360 degree video camera company 360fly, whose camera carries the same name, is aimed squarely at the consumer market. In October the 360fly camera was exclusively launched in selected Best Buy stores and online at BestBuy.com for $399 USD. Now the company has announced YouTube sharing capabilities through 360fly’s iOS and Android mobile app. 360fly users can now shoot, edit and share directly to YouTube all from their smartphone.

“YouTube’s support for 360-degree video has helped create awareness and drive demand for this emerging market,” said Peter Adderton, CEO of 360fly in a statement. “Viewing 360-degree video is only half the experience. 360fly allows anyone to easily capture, edit and share an experience in 360 degrees – all from the convenience from a smartphone.”

360fly’s interactive 360-degree video player provides viewers a 360 x 240-degree field of view (FOV). Viewers can control the video by swiping, as well as moving the device itself to control the interactive experience of the video. With desktops and laptops, users can achieve this interactivity by clicking and dragging the video to see and experience different vantage points within the larger 360 x 240-degree field of view.

VRFocus will continue to follow all the latest news and announcements from 360fly closely, reporting back any new details.
