Taking place over the next few days is the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) conference in Denver, Colorado. At the event global learning company Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) announced four field trips for Google Expeditions for students grades K-12.
Being a content partner for Google, HMH has been developing these field trips to go hand-in-hand with its curriculum. As such these first four will follow science and social studies, with 20 further trips planned for the Google Expeditions Android app, including journeys to the Alamo, Gettysburg, the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral, and back in time to the 1920’s. And iOS support is also planned in the coming months.
The current Field Trips are: America Expands West, taking students across the prairie in a covered wagon, so they can learn about like for the early pioneers; The Florida Seminoles, goes on a journey to the Florida Everglades in dugout canoes to experience the life of the ancient Seminole Tribe; Natural Bridge Caverns, an exploration of prehistoric caves formed during the Age of Dinosaurs and How People Use Natural Resources, which head into a swamp to investigate how people use the natural world to create things such as clothing, buildings and utensils

Our partnership with Google will bring what students are learning to life in exciting new ways while dedicated teacher support will ensure this technology truly enables learning.”
Google Expeditions first got announced back in May 2015, at the company’s I/O conference. Since then the platform became free for schools allowing students to use the Google Cardboard virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) to visit other locations.
