VR FEST, a virtual reality (VR) festival, will be holding its 2nd annual event in Las Vegas during the Consumer Electronics Show 2016 (CES). Launching for the event is a world wide online VR film competition held in conjunction with Littlstar.com, a global network dedicated to immersive 360 degree video and photos.

For the film competition, anyone from anywhere can nominate themselves or others for the awards, which are split between four categories. You can nominate as many people or projects as you like, but you can only nominate them once in a category, with each nomination requiring a new official nomination form.

The four categories with the individual awards are listed below:

Live Action Virtual Reality

  • Best Narrative Film
  • Best Music Video
  • Best Commercial
  • Best Documentary
  • Best TV Project
  • Best Sports Project
  • Best Educational Project
  • Best Non Profit or Social Cause (Immerse Yourself)
  • Best Live Stream
  • Best Experimental Project
  • Best Virtual Travel Experience
  • Best Real Estate Experience

Animated Virtual Reality

  • Best Narrative Animation
  • Best Music Video
  • Best Commercial
  • Best Educational Project

Games

  • Best Game for Cardboard
  • Best Game for Mobile
  • Best Game for Tethered HMD

General Awards

  • Audience Award
  • Best use of VR Technology
  • Most Immersive VR Experience
  • Best Augmented Reality Experience
  • Best VR Director
  • Best Cinematography for VR
  • Extreme Virtual Reality Challenge

Nominations are open now with the closing date being Saturday 5th December 2015. There will then be a public voting period between 5th – 15th December, followed by the judges voting from 15th December – 1st January 2016.
