Virtuix, the manufacturer of omni-directional treadmills has announced today a joint partnership with Chinese game publisher and eSports operator Hero Entertainment to create active virtual reality (VR) content and product bundles for the Chinese and U.S. markets.

Through Hero Entertainment’s eSports affiliate, Hero Sports, the owner of Hero Pro League a professional mobile eSports league, the company will invest in adding VR sports featuring the Virtuix Omni. Part of the venture will see Crisis Action, a popular multiplayer first-person shooter (FPS) with over 400 million registered players, converted into VR for use with the Omni.

“Gamers love first-person shooters, and the Virtuix Omni is a necessary platform to play first-person shooter games in VR,” said Daniel Wu, Hero’s president. “We are excited to enter China’s rapidly growing VR market together with Virtuix and to make the Omni available to our millions of players.”

“We believe that virtual reality will take off faster and become bigger in China than anywhere else,” said Jan Goetgeluk, Virtuix’s founder and CEO. “With the Hero deal, we are teaming up with China’s premier FPS developer. Their content combined with our Omni motion platform provides an unbeatable Active VR experience that we predict will take the China market by storm.”

This new deal follows on from Virtuix previously announcing an investment by Leyard, a Beijing firm. Leyard, sales networks include entertainment centers, shopping malls, and theme parks.

“Virtuix has developed an exciting product and technology that solves the problem of movement in virtual reality,” said Dr. Victor Li, chairman of Leyard. “We are thrilled to invest in Virtuix and look forward to working with the Virtuix team and their joint venture partner to build a strong VR leadership position in China and beyond.”
