Back in October, VRFocus reported on the news that indie developer Red River Studio had launched the pre-release version of its sci-fi racing title, Vector 36, over on Steam’s Early Access system. The videogame, which is set to support PC-based virtual reality (VR) head-mounted displays (HMDs) in the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, still remains in this state, with support for the former’s second development kit (DK2) now available. That said, it’s today been confirmed that Vector 36 will also be coming to PlayStation 4 next year, and will be supporting the console’s PlayStation VR HMD.

Red River Studios has today confirmed that the PlayStation 4 version of the title will be releasing alongside an Xbox One edition in late 2016. It’s not yet clear if the title will launch with PlayStation VR support, though the HMD itself is set for launch in the first half of next year.

Vector 36 is a physics-based sci-fi racer that passed a Steam Greenlight campaign much earlier in the year. The VR edition of the experience will allow players to climb inside of the cockpits of their vehicles and face off with rivals in races set on Mars. It also features customisable vehicles, with attached parts weighing in on the physics of each craft.

The title joins a long list of indie-developed projects now in the works for PlayStation VR, including the likes of 100FT Robot Golf and Job Simulator.
