To mark the release of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Syndicate: Jack The Ripper DLC, which focuses on the infamous killer who operated in the Whitechapel district of London in 1888, the studio has released a brand new trailer. To capitalise on the burgeoning virtual reality (VR) buzz, Ubisoft has created an immersive VR teaser trailer for fans to enjoy.

The trailer indicates Ubisoft’s continued interest in VR with Adrian Lacey, Director of IP Development at Ubisoft Montpelier saying to Girl Gamers UK: “Nicolas [Bouchet] and I started working on this as a test to see how we could adapt a trailer to offer a true VR experience. Originally, we hadn’t planned on releasing it, but the results were so good we had to share it. The Jack the Ripper VR trailer is just a small taste of what virtual reality can bring, both in terms of storytelling and how it can help players go deeper into our worlds.”

The studio also states in the videos description: “This first of its kind trailer also has a few Easter eggs to discover if you are as wise as Abberline!” So there’s lots to look for, for eagle eyed fans.

The 360 degree VR video can be viewed via a compatible browser and controlled with a mouse or the WASD keys, it can also be viewed on a smartphone with the YouTube app for the 360 degree experience. If you own a Google Cardboard or similar headset you can view the video through the YouTube app for a more immersive experience. The trailer can also be downloaded on the Gear VR head-mounted display (HMD).

VRFocus will continue to follow the latest VR news from Ubisoft, reporting back with any announcements.
