Back in February 2016 VRFocus reported on the formation of a new virtual reality (VR) studio named The Rogue Initiative, a Los Angeles, California-based team which included Reload Studios’ Pete Blummel. At the time of announcement the company confirmed that it was currently working on three VR projects which it will be announcing in the near future. While the team still hasn’t revealed those titles, it has confirmed to VRFocus that one of them will be a new IP that’s being made in partnership with an ‘established filmmaker’.

Blummel, who operates as CEO of the new company, explained as much in an interview with VRFocus that will be published later this week. “We are developing a new IP, which we’ll co-create and co-own, with a very established filmmaker,” he stated. “It’s the kind of project we’ve always wanted to make, and it firmly reflects our experience and sensibilities.” Later on, Blummel confirmed that the company would be sharing more details about its projects this summer, so expect a few more months of waiting before anything is announced.

Interestingly, The Rogue Initiative is looking to also utilise more traditional media to help fuel its VR work. Blummel explains this approach in detail in the interview, as well as talking about the company’s overall position in the VR landscape.

Check back with VRFocus later in the week for the full interview with Blummel.
