First-person shooting videogames on Samsung’s mobile virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD), Gear VR, are fairly plentiful. CCP Game’s Gunjack, Climax Studios’ Bandit Six and Bandit Six: Salvo, Side-Kick Games’ Romans From Mars 360 and Shooting Showdown 2 from Naquatic LLC are just some of the titles available. Now there’s another that’s been added to the roster, this time from Mimicrysoft in the form of Gun Blast.

Gun Blast is a simple enough shooting experience, where players take control of a fixed positioned gun turret that’s placed in front of an enemy encampment. It’s your job to kill the waves of enemy soldiers that stream out of the buildings and tents in as quick a time as possible.

The enemies will attack you with various weaponry, throwing grenades or firing rockets while flying around the sky with jet packs. These can all be shot out of the sky, and there’s explosive barrels on the ground to do extra damage to multiple hostiles. There’ll also be attack helicopters thrown in to the mix for an extra challenge.

The videogame is free to download for Samsung Gear VR, and its also been launched on Android with support for Google Cardboard and similar headsets.

Gun Blast features 26 levels with various alternating weather effects, and doesn’t require a Bluetooth controller to play, just aim the reticule with your head to shoot.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of Gear VR, reporting back with the latest releases.
