At the recent Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, California, local virtual reality (VR) developer Survios revealed more details and gameplay on its upcoming multiplayer shooter Raw Data. Now the experience has received a launch date through Steam’s Early Access platform.

Raw Data will be available in just over three weeks time, arriving on 14th June 2016 for the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD). In terms of price Survios has stated: “We have not yet finalized the price, but all Early Access purchases will retain the full product value of the final release price. By getting early access, you also get the full game on release.”

Playable in either single-player or co-op modes Raw Data has players fighting off waves of robots using the headset’s position-tracked controllers to wield an arsenal of ranged and melee weapons. These include pump-action shotguns, explosive arrows, grenades, katana’s, or just use your fists in close-quarters combat, there’s also the option to duel-wield weapons for maximum damage.

Built specifically for VR, Raw Data wants to immerse players in the action further by adding more interaction. This means that players will be able to holster up and pull weapons off their body, and dodge and deflect incoming projectiles in slow motion.

The team said back in April: “Active VR gameplay that takes full advantage of room-scale VR is a huge focus for us. We aim to deliver on the promise of VR where users are not just visually immersed in our games but are also physically part of the world.

This can be seen in some of the latest gameplay footage released by Survios. The video below gives a brief look at duel-wielding with a Katana and pistol as players destroy the incoming robots and deflect attacks.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of Raw Data, reporting back with any further announcements.
