Back in October 2014 Leap Motion held a 3D Game Jam, that saw well over 100 entrants. Out of that initial crop, 20 were selected as semi-finalists, one of those being Soundscape by developer Sander Sneek. While Soundscape didn’t win, Sneek has continued development of his virtual reality (VR) music experience. The original Soundscape utilised the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) along with Leap Motion’s hand-tracking, but now the developer has revealed a new version for the Samsung Gear VR.

Soundscape on Gear VR has seen a significant visual improvement from the titles earlier outings, with Sneek giving it a glossy immersive finish. The demo trailer (shown below) showcases a teasingly short introduction to the videogame. It unveils some of the controls on offer to players, including Tone Matrix, Drum Computer and Tone RPG allowing for a range of loops, effects and experimentation to be accessed. The title will be launching on Thursday 3rd December, on the Oculus store for anyone interested in combining VR and music creation.

As well as Soundscape Sneek has been working on other projects including Hoverboard VR, which combines the Oculus Rift, Leap Motion, Microsoft Kinect and a Wii Balance Board for a futuristic boarding experience.

VRFocus will continue to follow the latest project developments by the developer, reporting back with any further announcements.
