The official release of Samsung’s Gear VR mobile virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) last Friday was keenly anticipated by the VR community. So much so that Best Buy, one of the American retailers stocking the headset sold out on its website within the first day. International pre-orders have already begun through certain Samsung stores online, and now the smartphone manufacturer has released an official trailer for the HMD.

The trailer (shown below) begins by showcasing how easy the Gear VR is to use by simply clipping one of Samsung’s compatible smartphones (Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge + and Galaxy Note 5) into the headset. The video then goes on to show a small sample of the available software for the VR device, including movies like Kung Fu Panda 3, and videogame Land’s End by developer Ustwo Games.

The consumer Gear VR is retailing for $99 USD, and European pre-orders are listing the HMD at €99.99 EUR. While Samsung’s UK site still doesn’t feature the consumer version of the headset, a price was recently confirmed by the company’s Jason Lovell. He announced at the VRTGO event in Newcastle Upon Tyne,UK, that the Gear VR will go on sale for £79.99 GBP.

VRFocus will continue to follow all the latest Gear VR news closely, reporting back with the latest announcements.
