With the official consumer launch of Samsung’s mobile-based virtual reality (VR) Gear VR head-mounted display (HMD) due towards the end of November, Samsung has dropped the price of the S6 version of the Innovators Edition. VRFocus reported last week on Best Buy hosting a sale for the HMD, and now Samsung has done the same.

Anyone wishing to purchase a Gear VR Innovators Edition for their Galaxy S6 smartphones, can now order one directly off Samsung’s website for $99.99 USD, the same price as Best Buy’s sale. That will save VR fans $100 USD off the original price, and it includes free shipping. This was the second version of the Gear VR, being slightly smaller and lighter than the original version which supported the Galaxy Note 4 and launched back in December 2014. This version on sale also features support for the Galaxy S6 Edge which has the curved screen.

The new consumer version of the Gear VR, will also be priced at $99 USD, meaning Samsung are probably trying to move the last units of Innovator stock before launch. The new HMD only features a few tweaks to the originals design, coming in slightly lighter and featuring a redesigned touch pad. It also features support for all of Samsung’s 2015 range topping smartphones.

VRFocus will continue to follow all the latest news and announcements on Gear VR as details are released.
