For some videogames crowd-funding on Kickstarter isn’t always successful, while others can breeze past their initial goals in no time at all. Revival Productions campaign for its 6 degrees-of-freedom shooter (6-DoF) Overload has met with success today as it passed its $300,000 USD target with a final push from backers.

Earlier this week the campaign had made it over the halfway mark, but it was uncertain if Overload would be funded. But thanks to the studio’s initiatives, releasing a public playable demo which was only made available to backers originally, and a 24 hour Twitch live-stream, the team managed to raise $306,537 USD to make the project a reality.

Overload is a spiritual successor to 90’s 6-DoF shooter Descent, with the same team behind this latest version. Revival Productions will be creating a 15 level single-player campaign with 12 upgradeable weapons, and 5 levels of difficulty for the videogame.

Revival Productions has said it’ll be supporting the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR head-mounted displays (HMDs), and it released a playable teaser for the Oculus Rift to show the progress that had been made.

Overload is scheduled to launch in March 2017, and VRFocus will continue its coverage of the title, reporting back any new developments.
