One tech topic that is certainly in the news is the privileges and commercial availability of drones. Should everyone get to fly them? Should they be allowed on general sale at all? And what rights do individuals and property have in terms of their privacy from quadcopters and the like.

In Independence Acres the topic becomes gameplay, armed only with a shotgun your character has ascended the farm water tower and must now defend themselves their your home from waves of prying cameras. It is a target shooting game essentially with the drones becoming the modern equivalent of clay pigeons, with the 3D audio cluing you in as to where drones will be coming from next.

Developed by Davoo, Independence Acres was the Grand Prize Winner of the VisiSonics “Power of 3D Audio” Contest and currently holds a strong 4.5/5 rating on Oculus VR Share. Those who wish to download and try it will require an Oculus Rift DK1 head mounted display (HMD) with SDK version 0.6 or higher.

VRFocus will be back on Friday morning with another virtual reality (VR) experience that you are able to try out. Be sure to join us then and, in the meantime, be sure to check out all the most recent news on the subject of VR on our homepage.
