Whilst the last couple of weeks in the virtual reality (VR) community has most assuredly been about the releases of the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. Of course these are not the first VR Head mounted displays (HMDs) to receive a full retail release, as the Samsung’s smartphone-based HMD the Gear VR continues to receive support.

The latest title to arrive on the Gear VR comes from Canadian developers The Campfire Union and is based on a board game by designer Reiner Knizia. A two-player strategy title (one of the first multiplayer titles on the HMD), Lost Cities VR places you in another time and another place as you race against your opponent in a hunt for mysterious temples and the ruins of lost civilizations. Do you have the skill and the guile to outwit your opponent?

Initially submitted back in December, the team noted on their blog that the process of creating the title had benefitted them as a whole. “Lost Cities taught us a lot about games, user interfaces in VR, peoples’ expectations of the world around them, as well as keeping a team (11 in total!) focused on the same vision to craft something special.”

Following a debut appearance at the 2016 Mobile World Congress (MWC), Lost Cities VR is out today on the Oculus Store navigable through your Gear VR.

VRFocus will bring you more news on the project when we have it.
