Steam’s Early Access system has offered a life line to many virtual reality (VR) developers that await the full release of head-mounted displays (HMDs) such as the Oculus Rift. One such developer is Minority Media. The studio behind 2012’s Papo & Yo launched a pre-release version of its debut VR project, Time Machine VR, on Early Access back in August 2015, allowing the studio to continue to refine the title with the help of the community and the Oculus Rift’s second development kit (DK2) while the wait for the consumer version continues.

VRFocus spoke to Minority Media itself about that Early Access process and future plans for this intriguing project. In the interview below, Media Relations Manager, Rommel Romero, discusses what pre-release is allowing the developer to do to improve its experience while also talking about other aspects of the videogame such as the death mechanic and whether or not it could be considered an educational VR experience. He also touches upon release details and the possibility of seeing the experience on other HMDs.
