Today on Lunchtime with my Gear VR I’m checking out Affected: The Manor. I have had quite a few users request that I play this one and in some ways I’m glad I did. The graphics and scale look pretty good in the Gear VR, and the experience is OK but I have to admit I was really hoping to see this as a horror title that didn’t rely heavily on cheap jump scares and an experience that gave me a bit more freedom to explore. The game is very linear and has the player following a set path that is filled with jump scares. I look forward to one day being able to find a horror game that actually has the player exploring the environments and one in which the suspense builds up and doesn’t just resort to throwing stuff in my face for a cheap scare! Overall i guess for the price it is an OK experience for those who like the horror genre.
