Indie developer E McNeill has revealed a big new update for real-time strategy (RTS) title Tactera will be going live this week.

The Samsung Gear VR videogame will be getting a variety of new features and improvements to make the experience richer and the gameplay more responsive. For seasoned players who want more of a challenge there’s going to be a hard mode and an expert mode available in the campaign to really test those tactics out. As such there will be newly enhanced AI for each of these new difficulty levels, designed to keep Tactera challenging and engaging for all skill levels, even the most advanced players.

The update also includes improved audio and graphics to make Tactera feel more responsive and to provide more real-time feedback. The multiplayer mode has also had some work done adding a skirmish. This allows players to engage in a battle with the AI while waiting for an online match.

Tactera launched on Gear VR back in May, which VRFocus gave a respectable four stars to. The title was also a recent winner of “Best VR Game” at Casual Connect. Players are situated in a command centre and gameplay takes place on a holographic display to build gunships, tanks and bombers before issuing them orders upon the battlefield.

Plans are also underway for an Oculus Rift and HTC Vive version as E McNeill ran a successful Steam Greenlight campaign a couple of months ago. The update will go live for the Gear VR version this Wednesday 3rd August. For all the latest updates on Tactera, keep reading VRFocus.
