Opening today at Madam Tussauds is the virtual reality (VR) experience Ghostbusters: Dimensions created in partnership with THE VOID and Sony Pictures.

Created to promote the long awaited Ghostbusters sequel that releases in cinemas later this month, Ghostbusters: Dimensions is billed as an immersive hyper-reality experience that puts visitors into the movie to do their own ghost busting. Using THE VOID’s propriatory VR system including backpack, head-mounted display (HMD) and gun, players will be able to immerse themselves in the movie.

First there’s the Ghostbusters Experience which starts in a New York City subway station guests will be confronted by Sparky, a ghost that haunts a subway car. The experience then proceeds to the Alridge Mansion Museum where they’ll find rickety doors, spooky portraits and moving rocking chairs while encountering Gertrude, an ill-ridden ghost who spits mock slime at them.

Zhou’s Chinese restaurant serves as the headquarters for Ghostbusters where players will meet Jillian Holtzmann (played by Kate McKinnon) and Patty Tolan (played by Leslie Jones). Here visitors will be taught how to fight ghosts, see them trapped in containment units and see actual props from the movie.

It then concludes in the Mercado Lobby with players assisting Erin Gilbert (played by Kristin Wiig) and Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy) as they battle the infamous Slimer and any remaining villains.

After all that is Ghostbusters: Dimension where teams of three will suit up, grab some proton packs and then venture into a New York apartment to go on their own quest.
