First revealed back in January at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2016 was a 360-degree consumer focused camera called VUZE. Created by HumanEyes Technologies, the VUZE has been designed as a simple point-and-shoot device with one button stitching technology. Today the company has announced pre-orders for the device are now open.

The VUZE combines eight full HD cameras that utilise 3D and 2D capture technology to generate 4K 360-degree videos, as well as stereophonic sound. Each camera uses lenses that capture 120-degree horizontal field-of-view (FOV) and 180-degree vertical FOV capture the content.

The camera features a built-in battery and removable SD card giving up to one hour of recording time. Then as you transfer the recorded content onto PC the VUZE Studio software will stitch everything together using a process HumanEyes Technologies calls Adaptive Blending to provide a seamless image.

“We are excited to be taking orders of VUZE and believe it will help fuel the creation of immersive content, something all VR platforms are trying to encourage,” said Shahar Bin-Nun, CEO HumanEyes Technologies. “Current VR cameras either require advanced editing skills or in the case of other 3D solutions, demand Hollywood type budgets. With VUZE, we are democratizing VR content creation and putting it in reach of everyday consumers.”

VUZE is retailing for $799 USD, putting it above devices like 360fly ($399) but significantly lower than Nokia’s OZO camera ($60,000), and will being shipping in the Fall. VRFocus will continue its coverage of the 360-degree camera market, reporting any new announcements.
