Due to the immersive qualities of virtual reality (VR) and 360 degree video the technology has been used to highlight a number environmental and charitable campaigns the world over. From Kickstarter funded The Ark about the plight of the Northern White Rhinos to Inside Impact: East Africa with ex-president Bill Clinton, created by Felix & Paul Studios, VR can show the world in a new light. Now the Great Green Wall project has created a 360 degree video to showcase its project on the African continent.
The Great Green Wall is an African-led project with an ambition: to grow an 8,000km line of plants and trees across Africa, from Senegal in the west to Djibouti in the east. Its goal being to create food, jobs and a future for the millions of people who live in the region as the climate changes.
The 360 degree experience Growing a World Wonder follows Binta, a young Senegalese girl, as she and her family tend to their section of the Wall. The film explores the challenges her and the family face and how the project is already transforming their lives.
Growing a World Wonder is a venturethree film created with the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), developed in association with Apache & Al Maxwell.
