Blink and you may have missed it, but yesterday a virtual reality (VR) short film promoting the Mr.Robot TV series was shown on the Within app for a one time run. But for those in San Diego there’s another chance to see the film thanks to taxi service Uber.

Available from today through to Sunday, open up the Uber app while in downtown San Diego (map area below) between the hours of 11am – 8pm Friday/Saturday, 11am – 4pm Sunday and request a ride in USA Network’s Mr. Robot repair van. You’ll then be whisked off to one of the VR locations in the city showing Mr.Robot.

There are a couple of conditions: Mr. Robot VR will only be available downtown, each vehicle can accommodate up to 4 passengers, trips will end at the designated VR spot, you must be 18+ to experience the VR experience and as demand will likely be quite high if your first request is unsuccessful just check back to try again.

Within held a global simulcast of the VR experience through its app on iOS and Android devices, Samsung’s Gear VR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. If you’ve seen the first series the experience focuses on the main character Elliot. It’s a flashback to his past revealing more of his background.

It’s all part of the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) that’s taking place this week with several VR experiences in tow. Warner Bros. Pictures has collaborated with Samsung Electronics America, Inc. on exclusive VR Suicide Squad content being shown on Gear VR, comic book writer Daniel Corey will be on a panel tomorrow in part to discuss his Moriarty: Endgame VR comic book. US talk show host Conan O’Brien, is also there with Conan360, where his show is filmed in front of 360-degree cameras and several videos are now available online.
