There’s a big selection of videogame developers across the globe working on virtual reality (VR) projects. Many are known about but there’re likely some still playing with the technology, not revealing any projects just yet. Playground Games the studio behind racing titles Forza Horizon and Forza Horizon 2, has got both the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive head-mounted displays (HMDs) in its office and recently tweeted the favourite demo being played by the team.

Playground Games tweeted: “We’ve been playing with @oculus and @htcvive VR in the studio. Staff favorite so far is @ValveAndSteam Portal demo!” Valve’s Portal videogames were popular puzzlers, and the company revealed a demo based on the franchise last year called Aperture Science. Then in early March it unveiled The Lab, a combination of mini-games again with a Portal theme.

Currently Playground Games has made no mention (that VRFocus is aware of) for plans for a VR title. But would the developer have both the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive headsets just for entertainment purposes? Its also worth noting in the studios Twitter description that it is: “Now working on top secret stuff.” Could it be VR related? There is always that possibility, and with its background in racing titles, an open world VR racing videogame may well attract a lot of interest.

Both the HMDs are due to launch soon, the Oculus Rift in the next few days and the HTC Vive the week after that, with plenty of content between them to keep early adopters happy. VRFocus will continue to follow any further news from Playground Games, if it does plan a VR title in the future.
