In the run up to next weeks Gamescom event in Cologne, Germany more videogame developers and publishers are confirming their attendance and what they’ll be demoing. As one of the biggest videogame companies in the world, EA wasn’t likely to miss such a large show and now the its revealed what titles it’ll be taking to the event, with a very brief mention of Star Wars.

EA will be holding a live-stream a day before Gamescom begins, in which it’ll be showcasing the titles already expected, FIFA 17Titanfall 2 and Battlefield 1, as well as details on NHL 17 and Madden NFL 17. The live-stream will also include EA’s Star Wars franchises but currently does state which of them will be included. The rest of the blog update then makes no mention of Star Wars at all, could it be because there’s a lot to talk about?

Those previous titles mentioned have nothing to with virtual reality (VR), but one that does is Star Wars Battlefront: X-Wing VR Mission. VRFocus has known about the title for a few months now, but it was at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June that the official name was revealed. It’s an exclusive for Sony Interactive Entertainment’s (SIE’s) PlayStation VR head-mounted display (HMD), and for owners of Star Wars Battlefront the VR version will be free.

With only a couple of months to go until the PlayStation VR launch date now would be as good a time as any to demo Star Wars Battlefront: X-Wing VR Mission to the public.

As the name suggest Star Wars Battlefront: X-Wing VR Mission isn’t your standard Battlefront title. It puts players in the cockpit of an X-Wing fighter to battle against the Empire in immersive VR.

As VRFocus learns more about Star Wars Battlefront: X-Wing VR Mission and if it turns up at Gamescom, we’ll let you know.
