Launched in April Carpe Lucem – Seize the Light from German developer Hammer Labs is a virtual reality (VR) puzzle title that goes for a very relaxed approach to gaming. The title has now received its first major update on Steam, which adds a couple of new features including Steam Workshop support.

The videogame featured a level editor that’s now been improved but currently only supports the HTC Vive motion controllers. Alongside it, now any levels that players have created can be showcased and exchanged through Steam Workshop, with Hammer Labs already including two levels.

With the new 1.2 update for Carpe Lucem – Seize the Light comes a free demo offering eight levels to play through, and until 8th August there’s a 15 percent discount available. This drops the price from £10.99 GBP to £9.34.

The puzzles in Carpe Lucem – Seize the Light revolve around guiding and adjusting light rays, changing their colours to match the flowers using mirrors, prisms, magnets and more.

Classic 2D style puzzles are given a new lease of life in stereoscopic 3D afforded by the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive head-mounted displays (HMDs), allowing players to tackle challenges all the way around the player, not just in one spot.

Hammer Labs has revealed more puzzles are currently under development and scheduled for release in Q4/2016.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of Carpe Lucem – Seize the Light, reporting back with any further announcements.
