One of the popular and growing genres in virtual reality (VR) gaming is the arcade-like a first person tower defense style game and whilst there are several positional shooters in a variety of scenarios the archery simulation genre is developing a following, particularly on the HTC Vive which has multiple archery titles.

In this latest addition to the Samsung Gear VR smartphone based head-mounted display (HMD), developers voidAlpha invite you to take on the titular role of Archer E. Bowman a loyal solider who, with a name like that, couldn’t really hope to be anything else in life other than a shooter of arrows. As Archer, you must ascend to the battlements of the castle to defend it from all manner of foes who seek the destruction of both city and kingdom. Even if you repell the waves of enemies you will need to go out into the wider kingdom to make sure that the plots of the traitorous and vile are swiftly dealt with. Are you a budding Robin Hood, destined to be the champion of the realm?

“You are… Archer E. Bowman, Rampart Hero! Take to the wall with your trusty bow and defend the kingdom from beastly hordes! It was supposed to be a quiet day of guard duty – will you survive the onslaught?”

Previously an Oculus Concepts release, Archer E. Bowman can now be found on sale in the Oculus Store for $7.99 (USD).
