For UK-based gamers EGX is one of the biggest events in the annual calendar. Held at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), Birmingham, the show brings together developers from across the world to showcase their latest pre-release titles. To help grow and promote the event EGX has announced today that Amazon is now the official retail partner.

This new partnership will mean that Amazon will be supporting EGX with a marketing campaign via the retailers website, app, social media and other direct channels. At the show itself Amazon will be providing the opportunity to buy and pre-order games and hardware at EGX.

To further bolster the EGX brand Amazon’s website will also host an EGX hub of content, with Twitch live-streams and in depth information on all the products being showcased at EGX. There will monthly prize draws taking place where 100 Amazon customers will have a chance to win EGX tickets in the run up to the show in September 2016.

“We asked our community where they prefer to buy and pre-order their games and Amazon was overwhelmingly their number one choice.” said Rupert Loman, CEO of EGX’s parent company Gamer Network. “Their obsessive focus on customer experience fits perfectly with our attendees’ discerning taste. We’re extremely pleased to have the backing of another market-leading partner.”

“Every year we see our customers respond to the hands on experience and news coming out of EGX, so we are delighted to make it even easier to connect our customers with the games they love from innovative indie titles to blockbuster games,” added Russell Jones, Category Leader, Video Games for Amazon. “We are also working with our publishing partners to offer a few surprises for customers at the event.”

Last years event was one of the best places to demo the latest virtual reality (VR) head-mounted displays (HMDs) for UK residents. With the launch of HTC Vive and Oculus Rift a couple of months ago, and the PlayStation VR due out in October, EGX 2016 is likely to offer more of the same.

As further details for what’s on show at EGX 2016 come to light VRFocus will bring you the latest.
