Following on from the success of streaming the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) in 360 degree video in August, the company is now doing the same for the 2015 European Music Awards (EMA). The 2015 MTV EMA will be taking place in Milan’s Mediolanum Forum on Sunday 25th October.

For VR fans interested in watching the show in immersive 360 degree video, they’ll need to download the MTV EMA app from the Apple store or Google Play. The experience can be viewed without a head-mounted display (HMD) like the Google Cardboard, but for the full VR immersive experience it is recommended.

“We are always looking at new ways to engage our audience and push boundaries,” said Viacom International president and CEO Bob Bakish reports The Verge. “The MTV EMAs are one of the biggest nights of the year for us globally, so it makes sense to immerse viewers in this event live via virtual reality.”

The show will be a star studded event, being hosted by Ed Sheeran and Ruby Rose, there’ll be performances from Ellie Goulding, James Bay, Pharrell Williams, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Rudimental and Jess Glynne to name a few.

VRFocus will continue to follow all the latest news regarding VR and 360 degree video, as the technology becomes more widespread.
