Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a different person? A different gender perhaps? Using two Oculus Rift head mounted displays (HMDs) a research team have created an experience called ‘Machine To Be Another’ which crosses over the video streams to show the point of view of the other person.

The pair are then instructed to carry out a number of activities, so whilst you are still raising your arm, gesturing or even doing something like bowing bubbles you are seeing another real human body do your actions yet still feeling what you yourself are feeling. It’s an interesting experiment in how we view both ourselves and those of the opposite gender.

You can see the results in a video produced on BeAnotherLab’s efforts below. VRFocus will continue to bring you more original ways of using virtual reality, and be sure to catch up on a busy week in VR and AR here.
