Newbeedrone Beebrain Brushless with Insta360 Go

Until now, there has never been a palm-sized micro-drone with stabilized HD video.  Newbeedrone Beebrain Brushless is a 65mm 1S-powered FPV drone with a special strap to carry the Insta360 Go, the world’s smallest stabilized HD camera.  But does it really work?  I got to try it and here are my impressions and some sample videos.

FPV quadcopters have built-in cameras that can enable pilots to see from the drone’s perspective.  However, the video is optimized for low latency and has very low resolution and low dynamic range. Moreover, the video is not stabilized because a gimbal is too heavy and would probably get damaged if the FPV drone crashed.

The Insta360 Go is the world’s smallest stabilized camera, weighing just 20 grams, making it an ideal camera for mounting on FPV quadcopters, for which weight savings are important.  I’ve previously posted sample videos with the Insta360 Go on small drones, but what is the smallest drone that can carry the Insta360 Go?

The Newbeedrone Beebrain Brushless is a 65mm drone with a special mount for the Insta360 Go, and could be the world’s smallest drone with stabilized video.

But how well does it fly?  I ordered one and tried it with my Insta360 Go.  I was expecting that even the 20 gram weight of the Go would be too much for a drone that itself weighs only 23.5 grams.   To my surprise, the Beebrain could fly much better than I expected, and in fact seems easier to fly (although much slower).  Here’s a sample video from the Insta360 Go on the Newbeedrone Beebrain Brushless.

I plan to practice flying some more with the Insta360 Go, with a view to perhaps using it on real estate flythroughs to complement virtual tours.
