Horror titles can be very effective in virtual reality (VR) due to the immersive nature of the technology. Developer White Door Games released a demo version of its suspense laden videogame Dreadhalls a while ago, not long after the first iteration of the Oculus Rift DK1. The first full version of Dreadhalls arrived last year for the Samsung Gear VR head-mounted display (HMD) and now the VR experience is soon to arrive on the consumer version of the Oculus Rift. In preparation White Door Games has revealed a new PC trailer for the title.

Dreadhalls will be released on 28th March 2016, the launch day for the Oculus Rift, which VRFocus confirmed back in November. The PC version will improve on its Gear VR sibling with better graphics, lighting, increased texture detailing and 3D models, spatialized 3D audio for greater immersion, and many other gameplay adjustments.

The videogame traps players in an expansive dungeon, which must be explored to find a way out. But to survive the dangers that lurk in the dark, stealth is key. There’re no weapons to help, just a dim light to see through the blackness.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of White Hall Games’ Dreadhalls, reporting back on any new updates.
