PlayStation VR exclusive Wayward Sky was originally confirmed for the head-mounted display (HMD) in June 2015. Indie developer Uber Entertainment originally planned to create a Gear VR title called Ikarus, but changed its plans due to the limitations of the smartphone based hardware. This week in the run-up to the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the studio has released a new trailer mixing virtual reality (VR) with mixed reality (MR).

The trailer shows a kid putting on a PlayStation VR then diving into the world of Wayward Sky. Simulating the immersion of VR Uber Entertainment puts the player directly into the video as they control the heroine Bess through the adventure. Bess is a young pilot flying accompanying her father when they suddenly crash into a mysterious fortress that emerges out of the clouds. Her father gets kidnapped and with the plane in ruins, Bess must set out to explore the fortress and rescue him.

Wayward Sky offers a mixture of first and third-person gameplay  in which players can use the motion controllers as a means of highlighting objects and more as they look for ways to progress through environments.
